3D CAD (SolidWorks) and Casting Simulation Portfolio
Below are pictures of CAD drawings I have done along with descriptions.
This is a model of a centrifugal pump diffuser casting. I made this part during my internship. The only drawing that I had to use was a hand drawn section view. Figuring out the proper dimensions was a tough task in itself.
The main body of this model was made using a swept feature. The blades were constructed using a helix and a circular pattern.
I helped with the design of the gating system using a filter in the process rather than the traditional use of long runners in a pressurized system. With the use of simulation software, we were able to prove our design before the actual casting process.

SolidWorks Portfolio
The pictures in this slide show a few of the more complex projects that I have drafted in SolidWorks. Each picture has a description about the part and drafting process. Many of my drafting experience comes from runner and gating design that has been added to existing 3D models. Some of those projects can be seen in my Simulation portfolio below. Be sure to click on the picture in order to get the full view.
This was one of my first projects at my internship. The cast parts and the gating were modeled in SolidWorks then transferred into SolidCast. This is the post analysis of possible areas of microshrink within the castings.
This was another project that I modeled both the castings and the gating in SolidWorks. These castings were particularly interesting because there was to be a heavy machined steel ring that was to be apart of the casting. This ring had to be taken into account in the simulation due to the chilling factor that it would create.
This was another provided model, but was a challenge because this was a thin-walled casting that was subject to post-machining in many areas.

Casting Simulation Portfolio
These images all come from SolidCast, a solidification simulation software used in the casting industry. I used this software extensively during my internship. This software gave me a basic insight to CFD analysis, one I truly hope to expand upon.
